Tongues/Prongs
Wire shapes include round, half round, half oval and flat. They come in many styles and sizes. Wire gauges vary based on style.
In an effort to eliminate confusion on orders, Philip Machine has attempted to codify all tongues. Tongue styles begin with a group of letters, separated by a hyphen, and followed by 3 numbers (i.e. J-E162). The letter or group of letters to the left of the hyphen signify the type of wire or stock being formed and its dimensions. The letter or group of letters to the right of the hyphen represent the style or shape of the tongue. The remaining three numbers represent the length of the tongue in inches (i.e. J-E162 = 1.62 or 1 5/8").
Note that all tongues are measured from the middle of the tail (A), which wraps around the bridge, to the tongue tip (B). See figure below.
